We created Social Ideas for two reasons...

First, because we wanted our clients to better understand social media, so they would appreciate what we were doing for them and why.

Second, we wanted them to contribute more to their own social media campaigns. Because no matter how involved we are in their business, we are never going to know everything that's going on.

Plus there is a level of knowledge that they have that we will never have - having them make their own posts adds a deeper level of value and authenticity than if we do it all for them.

We wanted them to recognize opportunities to post when they came across them, and to be comfortable enough making those posts that they would just do it.

What we found surprised us.

Clients enjoyed getting the emails. They didn't read them every day, but they saw them and they filed them. They tended to read them in batches, 2-3 at a time.

After a month of looking at the subject lines and reading the examples, it started clicking for them.

They got more comfortable with making posts.

They didn't post every day.

Some posted a couple times a week. Some didn't post at all.

But almost all of them started to appreciate what social media can do for their business. Once that clicked, they wanted to do a lot more with social media.

They started putting more information on their Facebook pages, they tweeted more often, they updated their LinkedIn profile, they started circling people on Google+, and they wanted more videos.

This was great for us.

They were coming up with more work for us, and helping us do a better job for them.
